A great start to the New Year for Dukes Meadows Trust. We have a new name, being formerly “Friends of Dukes Meadows” and have raised £10,000 to repair the structural fault in the Band Stand that has caused it to be fenced off for the last two years.  The money comes from a grant from Euroclear and the Trust is working with the Council to complete the repair before Boat race day on the 8th April 2007.

Chair of the Trust Paul Allen said, “we are delighted to have secured the grant and very grateful to Euroclear. The Band Stand belongs to the Council so we will be working with them to get the repair done, we have obtained quotes to carry out the work so are confident that the grant should cover the cost. The Trusts new name reflects the changed nature of its’ responsibilities, we now manage a number of things on the meadows; the new water play area, artists studios and weekly market. We found the Friends title confused outside bodies, such as funders, who saw us as a user group representative body rather than an organisation managing facilities”.
